I have just come across Answers to Life’s Worries, in Three-Minute Bursts , in the New York Times.I’m sure we are all familiar with the concept of speed-dating but the concept of 5 minute therapy is somewhat disturbing. 5 minutes “in” =”5 minutes out”. In other words you’ll get out what you put in! The concept of getting 5 minutes of therapy from someone who has no real chance to get to know you, assess your problems and develop strategies and a treatment plan for moving forward does not resemble therapy. The only benefit I can see, it that it presents an opportunity to meet a therapist to gauge if they are a good “fit” prior to progressing into a therapeutic relationship. What do you think?
