I couldn’t resist posting this picture I took yesterday of my good friend Chris Wilson carrying the Olympic torch. Chris was the final torchbearer and cauldron lighter in Coquitlam yesterday.
And here is a fabulous photo of Chris lighting the cauldron at Coquitlam’s Mackin Park celebration from the Vancouver official site where you can check out lots more wonderful photos of proud Canadians carrying the torch.
Chris competed in wrestling the Barcelona 1992 Olympic Games where he won Silver. He has also won medals at World Cups and the Commonwealth Games.
Chris is very involved in his community. In 1989, he developed the Power Tour — a life- skills and substance abuse prevention program for students in Grades 4 to 8. In 1993, with the help of a member of the RCMP, he co-founded the ESTEEM Team athletic role model program, which blossomed into a national youth development organization.
Chris is very involved in coaching soccer, lacrosse, hockey and wrestling. He is great role model in our community and I consider myself very fortunate to be able to have him as friend 😀
